DANBURY, CT - Junior hitter Nicolina Chenard (Ardsley, NY) led the Western Connecticut State University women's volleyball team with eight kills as they defeated John Jay College, 3-0, at Feldman Arena on Thursday night.
The Colonials, now 14-4 won in straight sets, 25-13, 25-14 and 25-20, and have now won nine of their last 10 matches, dating back to September 14.
Ali Brochu (Winsted, CT) added six kills for WestConn as it tallied 32 put-aways on the night.
Freshman setter Rory McMaster (Canton, MI) patrolled the offense, dishing out 19 dimes against the Bloodhounds.
Skylar Kellam (Fishkill, NY), one of 16 Colonials to see action on Thursday, led all players with 10 digs. McMaster and Victoria Alomar (Naranjito, P.R.) registered eight and seven digs, respectively, for the winners.
"We are happy with our overall play tonight," said WestConn head coach Don Ferguson. "We have so many matches left in our conference coming up, so it was nice to give some of our regulars a rest tonight. Meanwhile we saw a lot of good things from our bench."
Niovis Monsanto (Yonkers, NY) led John Jay College with seven kills and joined Stephany Chhay (Brooklyn, NY) with a team-high six digs.
Kimberly Rodriguez (Glendale, NY) handed out a team-high 15 assists.
The Bloodhounds drop to 2-12 on the season.
WestConn host Little East Conference foe Castleton University and Nichols College in a tri-match on Saturday, October 12. First serve is set for 12 noon against the Spartans.
