DANBURY, CT - Freshman midfielder Myah Croze (Bristol, CT) scored a pair of goals to lift the Western Connecticut State University women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Western New England University at the Westside Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon.
Croze, now the leading scorer for the Colonials with five goals on the season, scored in the 33rd and 81st minute as the Colonials, now 2-3-1, led from start to finish.
Sophomore Kaleigh Panek (Shelton, CT) put WestConn up 1-0 with an unassisted goal at the 10:02 mark. It was her fourth goal of the season.
Croze followed at the 32:32 mark and the host went into intermission with a 2-0 advantage.
"Myah (Croze) is getting plenty of opportunities to score this season and today she was able to convert on a couple of important tallies," stated WestConn head coach Alex Harrison. "She and our defense played much better today, as we get ready for Little East Conference play next weekend."
With 9:43 remaining in regulation, the Golden Bears, now 2-3, drew within a goal when Samantha Vitka (Stratford, CT) notched her team-leading third goal of the season.
Karly Martin (Bristol, CT) earned the victory in goal for the Colonials after making three saves.
