FLORHAM, NJ - The Western Connecticut State University women's and men's swim teams each fell to FDU-Florham in a dual-meet. The Devils prevailed, 147-106 and 154-71 respectively on Saturday afternoon.
For the Colonials, Molly Henry (Pound Ridge, NY) captured individual wins in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:09.01 and the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall in 1:11.96.
Henry was the lead leg in the the meet's opening event, the 200-yard medley relay, which WestConn won with a 2:04.78 time. Hope Johnsky (Bristol, CT), Olivia Sonoski (Westport, CT) and Madison Lacy (Norwich, CT) followed Henry into the pool.
Sophomore David Lawrence (Newtown, CT) earned victories in a pair of events as well for WestConn. He captured the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:56.91 and later tallied a win in the 100-yard freestyle clocking in at 52.04.
Luke Forsberg (New Fairfield, CT) narrowly defeated Justin Atkins in the 100-yard butterfly, hitting the wall in 59.65, 44 one-hundredths of a second before his closest competitor.
"We had a few life-time and season-best times but today, but it was was a tough meet and we weren't able to capitalize on our training," stated WestConn head coach Jill Cook.
Next Saturday, November 23, WestConn men and women play host to Lehman College at the O'Neill Center Natatorium. The meet with the Lightning is set for 1 pm.
