PLYMOUTH, NH - Junior goalie Daniel Szabo (Trumbull, CT) registered the clean sheet and three different Colonials scored goals as the Western Connecticut State University men's soccer team defeated Plymouth State University, 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Szabo only had to withstand one shot on the afternoon as WestConn's defensive third kept the Panthers out of harms way.
WestConn, which improves to 11-4 overall and 4-2 in the Little East Conference, got on the scoreboard early when junior midfielder James Wilcox (Burlington, CT) scored his first goal of the season. Classmate Mikey Sciortino (Shelton, CT) assisted on the game first goal.
Sciortino scored his sixth goal of the season in the 74th minute to give the visitors a little breathing room.
Freshman Franz Muhaj (Bridgeport, CT) added an unassisted tally with just over 10 minutes remaining in the contest.
"We played well for 90 minutes, but needed a couple late goals to make it a little more comfortable on the sidelines," stated WestConn legendary head coach Joe Mingachos.
Linus Lindeberg made three saves for the Panthers, which drop to 1-8-3 overall and 0-4-2 in the LEC.
WestConn plays host to Trinity College on Tuesday, October 22. Game time against the Bantams is set for 7 pm at the Westside Athletic Complex.
