DANBURY, CT – The Western Connecticut State University men's golf team edged visiting Rhode Island College, 340-358, in a matchup at Richter Park on Tuesday. The Colonials return to action on Wednesday, October 16 at the Mitchell Invitational.
First-year players Riley Shay (Southbury, CT) and Ryan Frey (Patterson, NY) chipped in with an 85 and 66, respectively, while senior James Tomasini (Manorville, NY) rounded out the WestConn squad with a 104.
Senior Evan Moore (Portsmouth, RI) earned medalist honors for the second consecutive contest as the Rhode Island College men's golf team lost, 358-340, at Western Connecticut on Tuesday afternoon.
Moore finished first among the nine-golfer field with an 81 while freshman William Niles (Warwick, RI) carded an 83.
Anchormen senior Matt Butler (Johnston, RI) finished with a 96 while junior Matt Malo (Cranston, RI) finished with a 98.
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the 2019 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship, hosted by St. Joseph's (ME) on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 12-13.
