  • Senior Day Ends With Sweep Over Yeshiva, 8-7 and 12-2

    DANBURY, CT - Seven seniors were honored on Senior Day and the Western Connecticut State University baseball team gave them a doubleheader sweep over Yeshiva to close out their careers. The Colonials defeated the Maccabees, 8-7 and 12-2 at Westside Field on Thursday afternoon.
  • MacLean Blasts Two-Run Shot as Baseball Downed at Eastern, 14-8

    MANSFIELD, CT – Despite two hits and three RBI's which included a two-run homer from senior rightfielder Kyle MacLean (Southington, CT), the Western Connecticut State University baseball squad was downed at Little East Conference archrival Eastern Connecticut, 14-8, on Saturday afternoon at Eastern Stadium. With the loss, the Colonials dropped to 6-23 overall and 3-11 in league play.

    MIDDLETOWN, CT – The Western Connecticut State University baseball squad battled dreary weather conditions once again as they fell at non-conference foe Wesleyan University on Wednesday afternoon, 10-3. With the loss, the Colonials dropped to 6-22 overall while the Cardinals improved to 16-15.

  • Baseball Splits Doubleheader at Plymouth State

    PLYMOUTH, NH – The Western Connecticut State University baseball squad split a Little East Conference doubleheader at Plymouth State on Sunday afternoon. The Colonials dropped the opener in seven innings, 20-8, before rebounding to edge the Panthers in Game Two, 5-4. With the split, the Colonials moved to 6-12 overall and 3-10 in league play, while Plymouth went to 13-19 and 4-9.

    BOSTON, MA - After dropping a heartbreaking one-run decision at home to John Jay yesterday, the Western Connecticut State University baseball squad dropped both games of a doubleheader at Little East Conference opponent UMass-Boston on Friday. The Colonials dropped the opener, 19-2, before falling in Game Two, 23-3.
  • Baseball Turns Triple Play but Drops Heartbreaker to John Jay, 10-9

    DANBURY, CT – Senior outfielder Kyle MacLean (Southington, CT) went 3-for-5 and drove in a game-high four runs but it wasn’t enough as the Western Connecticut State University baseball team suffered a heartbreaking 10-9 loss to visiting non-league foe John Jay College on Thursday afternoon at Westside Field. Trailing 7-1 in the fifth, the Colonials would rally, eventually capturing a 9-8 lead in the bottom of the eighth. However, the Bloodhounds pushed a pair of runs across in the top of the ninth to steal the victory and improved to 10-21 overall. WestConn fell to 5-18.
  • Andrew Luis Belts Home Run In Loss At RIC, 16-10

    PROVIDENCE, RI —  Western Connecticut was led by sophomore center fielder Andrew Luis (Danbury, CT) who went 1-for-3 with one run scored, a two-run homer and three RBI in the setback, but the Western Connecticut State University baseball team fell at Rhode Island College, 16-10 on Tuesday afternoon.

    DANBURY, CT - Junior left fielder Moe Ortiz-Echevarria (Norwalk, CT) belted a triple and drove in a pair of runs, but the Western Connecticut State University baseball dropped a 14-3, seven-inning decision to visiting Rhode Island College at Westside Field on Wednesday afternoon.

    DARTMOUTH, MA – For the second-straight start, senior right hander George Bielizna (Danbury, CT) hurled a complete-game Little East Conference victory at the Western Connecticut State University baseball team salvaged a split with host University of Massachusetts Dartmouth by taking the nightcap, 4-2 after dropping the opener, 5-1 at UMD Baseball Field on Saturday afternoon.

    NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Matt Mancini (Waterbury, CT) and Dante Postorino (Huntington, NY) each drove in three runs and the Western Connecticut State University baseball team went on to defeat the College of New Rochelle, 14-8 in a non-conference chiller at Flowers Park on Thursday night.

The Colonials captured the nightcap, 16-5, in seven innings, after falling to the Spartans, 17-11 in the opener.

    PURCHASE, NY – Junior Greg Campbell (Harwinton, CT) went 4-for-5 and drove in four runs to lead the Western Connecticut State University baseball squad to a 16-6 win at non-league foe Manhattanville College on Wednesday afternoon. With the victory, the Colonials snapped a five-game skid and improved to 2-12 overall while the Valiants dropped to 6-8.

With the loss, the Colonials dropped to 1-10 overall.

    FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The Western Connecticut State University baseball team opened its spring break trip in Florida by falling to Washington College in a doubleheader on Sunday at Bob Gladwin Stadium.  The Shoremen took game one, 9-4, and captured game two, 13-6.  Washington is now 5-0 on the season and have won its opening five games for the first time since starting the 1985 season 6-0.  The Colonials fall to 0-2.
