GORHAM, ME - The Western Connecticut State University women's volleyball team improved to 15-9 overall and 3-3 in Little East Conference play following a pair of wins on Saturday afternoon. The Colonials edged league rival Southern Maine, 3-1 (28-26, 17-25, 28-26, 26-24), before cruising past non-league foe Colby, 3-1 (22-25, 25-19, 25-11, 25-18). With the pair of wins, WestConn has now won eight of its last nine matches.
In the match against the host Huskies, senior outside hitter Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) racked up a match-high 22 kills to lead the Colonials, while classmate Mikayla Aubry (Fresno, CA) and junior Alyssa Dam (Poughkeepsie, NY) chipped in with nine apiece. Senior setter Jenna Skerritt (Wolcott, CT) had a stellar performance, with match-highs of 44 assists and five service aces to go along with 14 digs.
King floored a team-high 13 in the contest against Colby, while Dam added seven. Skerritt had another solid outing with match-highs of 36 assists, four aces and 13 digs.
WestConn will seek to keep its four game win streak alive when they host Rhode Island College in their final regular season conference matchup on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
