FARMINGDALE, NY – After splitting a tri-match over the weekend, the Western Connecticut State University women's volleyball team downed non-conference host Farmingdale State, 3-1 (25-14, 19-25, 25-17, 25-13) on Tuesday evening. Senior outside hitter Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) paced the Colonials with a match-high 15 kills, while classmate Mikayla Aubry (Fresno, CA) chipped in with 10. Senior setter Jenna Skerritt (Wolcott, CT) also added match-highs of 34 assists, 14 digs, and five service aces.
The visitors began the match with a 9-4 run capped with a floor from junior Alyssa Dam (Poughkeepsie, NY). They would cruise the rest of the opening set.
After dropping the second set, the Colonials rebounded, jumping out to huge leads to open both the third and fourth sets en route to the match win.
"It was nice to get a win on the road. This gives us some momentum as we head into the final part of the regular season which includes three league matches," said WestConn head coach Don Ferguson following the action.
With the victory, the Colonials improved to 13-9 overall, while the Rams dropped to 7-20. WestConn returns to action for a Little East Conference match at Southern Maine on Saturday at Noon. They then square off against non-league foe Colby at 2 p.m.
