DANBURY, CT - Junior back Aileen Maloney (Trumbull, CT) scored a pair of goals as the Western Connecticut State University women's soccer team remained undefeated following its 2-0 victory over Keene State College on Saturday afternoon at the Westside Athletic Complex.

The Colonials improve to 8-0 overall and 2-0 in the Little East Conference and have only allowed one goal on the season.  The Owls drop to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the league.

After a scoreless first half, the Colonials got on the scoreboard when Maloney converted on a penalty kick at th 60:32 mark.  WestConn was awarded the 12-yarder after an Owls defender hauled down Autumn Sorice (Bethel, CT) inside the box.

Maloney hit the onion bag for her third goal of the season with 4:01 remaining to give WestConn a little breathing room.  She was set up with a perfectly-place crossing pass from senior midfielder Andrea DeVoe (Farmington, CT).

"It's always nice to get a conference win, and to do it against a solid team like Keene State really gives us an idea what it takes to win in this league." stated WestConn's second-year head coach Alex Harrison.  "There are going to be a lot of tough games in the LEC again this season.  Everyone wants to knock off the defending champions."

Senior goalie Jillian Fernandez (Columbia, CT) earned the shut out after making eight saves.

Abbie Terrinca (Ludlow, MA) made six saves for the Owls.

The Colonials hit the road for their next three games beginning on Monday, September 25 when they face Wentworth.  Game time is set for 7 pm.
