DANBURY, CT – Junior Brooke Baldelli (New Fairfield, CT) tallied a game-high four goals and two assists, while senior midfielder Lauren Bradshaw (Bethel, CT) added a goal and three helpers as the Western Connecticut State University women's lacrosse squad rolled past visiting Little East Conference foe Rhode Island College, 12-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Westside Athletic Complex on Senior Day. With the win, the Colonials improved to 10-3 overall and 3-1 in league play, while the Anchorwomen dropped to 4-6 and 0-3.
Senior midfielder Samantha Lawlor (Brookfield, CT) and sophomore attacker Caroline Galligan (Marshfield, MA) each chipped in a pair of goals for the Colonials. The lone RIC tally came from the stick of sophomore middie Giana Ritchie (Cumberland, RI).
The hosts finished with 45 shots while the visitors managed five. The WestConn ride was stellar as they held RIC to 13-of-30 on clear attempts.
Sophomore netminder Jennifer Sawicki (Westbury, NY) wasn't tested much as she improved to 9-3 overall and turned aside a single shot for the Colonials. Despite surrendering 12 goals, senior Julia Eaton (Cumberland, RI) put together a phenomenal performance, finishing with 26 saves for the Anchorwomen.
The Colonials return to action at cross-state archrival Eastern Connecticut on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
