FT. MYERS, FL – The Western Connecticut State University softball squad concluded its spring trip on Friday. The Colonials edged SUNY-Canton, 11-10, before falling to Brockport, 6-2. With the split, WestConn moved to 8-4 overall.
"We learned a lot this week about who we are and just how good we can be. We are hoping to be able to get outside when we get back and to work on the things we saw this week. Finishing 8-4 without even stepping onto a softball field until 8 days ago is not an easy task. Impressed with this team. The senior class has done an amazing job leading the way. We are looking forward to conference play but not the weather back home," said Colonial head coach Heather Stone before returning back to Connecticut.
At the time of this writing no statistics were available for the Game One victory over SUNY-Canton.
Sophomore Annie Rosa (Washington, CT) continued her stellar week as she tallied the Colonials' lone pair of RBI's in the loss against Brockport.
WestConn returns home with a week to prepare for its first league matchup when they host a doubleheader against Keene State on Saturday, March 23 at Noon.
