Robert Swensen Named To LEC Men's Lacrosse All-Conference Second Team

PAWTUCKET, RI - Western Connecticut State University senior midfielder Robert Swensen (Danbury, CT) has been named to the 2019 Little East Conference Men's Lacrosse All-Conference Second Team on Thursday.

In his final season, Swensen tallied 40 goals, assisted on 11 others for a total of 51 points for the 10-8 Colonials.  He registered 14 ground balls and was second on the team with 161 shots.

The all-conference teams and major awards were announced following a vote of the league's head coaches. 2019 LEC champion Keene State had three of the four major award recipients in Offensive Player of the Year Joe Nutting, Defensive Player of the Year Charles Molloy IV and Coach of the Year Mark Theriault. UMass Boston's Darragh Fahey was named the LEC Rookie of the Year.

Nutting was named the Offensive Player of the Year after leading Keene State in scoring this season with 45 goals and 21 assists for 66 total points. He ranked in the top-10 in the Little East in each of those categories while extending the Owls streak of Offensive Player of the Year recipients to seven, and is the 10th player in program history to receive the award.

Molloy became the fourth player in LEC history to be named Defensive Player of the Year in consecutive seasons after starting in all 17 games and totaling 71 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers. He led a defensive unit that allowed just 6.25 goals per game in conference play, which was more than three goals per contest better than the second-ranked team (UMass Dartmouth, 9. 49 GAA).

Fahey became the fourth Beacon to be named Rookie of the Year after finishing second on the team in scoring with 14 goals and 19 assists for 33 points, while also collecting 33 ground balls. His 19 assists were the most on the team, and ranked him 11th in the LEC.

Theriault was named the league's Coach of the Year for the eighth time overall and for the fifth time in the last seven years after guiding the Owls to the 2019 Little East regular season and tournament championships. This marked Keene State's seventh consecutive regular season title and sixth straight tournament championship. The Owls are currently riding a 55-game conference winning streak that dates back to 2012.
