Men’s Lacrosse Downed at Keene State, 19-4

KEENE, NH – After winning its last pair of league matchups over Eastern Connecticut and Salem State, the Western Connecticut State University men's lacrosse team was downed at Little East Conference opponent Keene State, 19-4, on Tuesday night. With the loss, the Colonials slipped to 6-8 overall and 2-4 in league play, while the Owls improved to 10-4 and 7-0.

Sophomore attackman Eric Caldwell (East Moriches, NY) led the visitors with a pair of goals, while classmate midfielder John Ward (Mahopac, NY) chipped in with a scoring strike and an assist.

Hunter Arnold paced the hosts with nine points on three goals and six assists, while John Nassif added four goals.

It was all Keene from start to finish as they began the contest with a 6-0 flurry before heading into halftime ahead, 10-2. The Owls continued to show why they are undefeated in conference play as the lead ballooned to 16-2 heading into the final quarter.

Rookie goalie Perry Cassidy (East Setauket, NY) made seven saves and fell to 5-8 for the Colonials, while Matthew Howe improved to 9-4 for Keene State, who used a total of four different goalies.

WestConn will look to rebound when they host LEC nemesis UMass-Dartmouth in its regular season finale on Friday at 4 p.m.
