CHICOPEE, MA - Sophomore Tatum Seaver (North Haven, CT) scored in the game's 36th minute, on an assist from sophomore Erica Tanuis (Bethlehem, CT), to lead the Western Connecticut State University field hockey team to a 1-0 win at Elms College Thursday evening.

Elms College junior goalkeeper Sam Alvino (Holtsville, N.Y) gathered 14 saves, but Western Connecticut State University's Tatum Seaver (North Haven, Conn.) broke a scoreless tie with what ended up being the game-winning goal just two minutes into the second half, to give the Colonials a 1-0 victory over the Blazers in Thursday night's non-conference field hockey game.
With the loss, Elms moves to 0-2 on the season, while Western Connecticut State University improves to 1-1 on the season.
Seaver found the back of the cage from a well-placed pass from Erica Tanuis (Bethlehem, Conn.) to set up the game's only score.
Elms had 5 shots on goal, 4 of which were saved by sophomore goalkeeper Kristy Trotta (Danbury, Conn.) and 1 that hit inner post at the 12:12 mark in the 1st half from senior Tatiana Frizzell (Brattleboro, VT). Along with that opportunity, with 1:25 remaining in the 1st half, Frizzel again had a great shot on cage, but was turned away this time from Colonials defender Erika Wixted (New Fairfield, Conn) for the defensive safe.
Elms returns to non-conference action Saturday, Sept. 6 when they host Colby-Sawyer at 1:00 p.m. at Leary field.
